Natural Gas Takes the Lead

CS News -- What fuel alternatives will convenience store retailers sell at the pump in 13 years? Although panelists differed slightly in their answers, they all came to the consensus that natural gas is likely to have the best future.

During Monday's workshop, entitled What Will You Sell in 2025?, Chad Hollett, director of warehousing and distribution for Kwik Trip Inc., noted that natural gas -- which comprises compressed natural gas (CNG) for consumer vehicles and liquefied natural gas (LNG) for fleets -- simply cannot be ignored as a promising fuel alternative.

Before we decided to offer natural gas at our stores, we looked at the supply of it, he said. Natural gas has a 100-year supply and is produced here in the United States.

Hollett pointed out that natural gas offers a considerable pri

truvoice1...you might want to check both OK and CO who are coordinating NG fueling stations.

Specifically, Love's Country Stores in about 6 states surrounding OK have already put in NG pumps in many of their stations.. This is happening as we speak! They will be fueling Big Rigs initially.

Like the article said, its the chicken or the egg syndrome; someone has to take the risk and either build the stations and pumps and /or build the vehicles that run on CNG. We'll see who takes the 1st step. Here's where T Bone Pickens should pur his money where his mouth is.

I find it fascinating that 40 years ago we only had a 50 year supply of oil and gas and now it is 100 years. I wonder how much we really have. Probably more than we will ever use.

"While having CNG at the pumps is great... we need more cars on the market that can burn CNG."

There are conversion kits that will let you convert pretty much any gasoline vehicle into a gasoline/CNG one. The CNG tanks will use up some of your trunk space.

We need a good network of CNG stations. Then with sales going up, others will follow. Starting with the stations on the interstat highway system might be a reasonable place to start.

Someone is thinking ahead and planning accordingly. May not be self-service due to safety concerns.

The ability to make it "self Service" - then refueling safety would be my concern.

>Baiting the public with super low prices while more CNG vehicles are marketed and the fuelling stations are getting set up ..... but just wait. The prices will jump with the usual industry gotcha maneuver.
How many times must folks be swindled by this same bunch to realize they are not trustworthy?

Methinks the corporate people are lucy and the customers are charlie brownn, and we want to kick the football and will fall on our heads every time, and look for someone else to blame, perhaps.

teafortwo ... Exactly! We are already seeing this happen in the solar and wind energy fields. Its sad how they just keep putting the screws to Americans! We need to get back to things America has plenty of and are very affordable compared to the high costs of green alternatives. Oil and Clean Coal will bring America back around and sustain us for centuries!

pretty soon the speculators will jump on that, too. I can see it now, years ahead we have CNG cars and then have to pay more, too, for heating my home.
